McDonald’s Exchange

Monday, December 11, 2006

Everyone knows what to expect when dining at McDonalds, but the strangest thing happened yesterday while I was ordering lunch. I’m pretty sure the girl taking my order was not brand new as I have seen her work there months ago. Lets just call her ‘Suzie’. The following exchange is bizarre yet hilarious, to say the least.

Suzie: “What sauce would you like with your nuggets?”
Nels: “What sauce do you have?”
Suzie: “We have sweet and sour, BBQ, honey mustard and honey.”
Nels: “I’ll have BBQ and Honey Mustard.”
Suzie: “What dressing do you want with your salad?”
Nels: “I’ll have the balsamic vinaigrette.”
Suzie: “We only have italian.”
Nels: “…”

I look at Alan who is standing next to me, trying not to laugh at the absurdity of her asking me dressing I want, fully knowing they only have italian.

Alan (To Suzie, chuckling): “That’s a trick question isn’t it?”
Suzie smirks.

A little later, I’m seated and ready to begin consuming my salad. Taking the dressing out of the neat paper packages they come in:

Nels (Scratching my head): “Low-fat Thai Sesame? What the heck is going on here?”
